Maricopa County Parks’ fall butterfly monitoring program is now part of the National Recreation and Parks Association Parks for Pollinators bioblitz program. Attend the Butterfly Workshop on September 16, then put your skills to the test at one of the butterfly monitoring events held by Parks for Pollinators on September 20.

Event Description

Join Maricopa County Parks & Recreation and the National Recreation and Parks Association for a Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz. Learn to identify local butterflies and help track their populations, species richness, and diversity. Take part in a national pollinator survey, master butterfly identification and monitoring, join hands-on events and more.

Join us to become a SW-IFL Volunteer and learn about the Hestia Traffic App and how you can help us collect data for this community science project! This is an in-person training at the S’edav Va’aki museum, registration is required.

In the month of May we will be running a contest with prizes! The person who has the most observations in the Phoenix region will be awarded a prize, and the top 15 participants will be put in a raffle for other prizes!

Event Description

 The City Nature Challenge is a friendly, global competition to see which city can document the most wildlife using iNaturalist! From April 25-28, the Greater Phoenix Area is joining cities worldwide to explore nature in our urban spaces. The CNC is a unique event that serves to connect people to their local nature in urban or metro areas worldwide. The hope of the event is to grow volunteer community science documentation while collecting urban biodiversity data that are available to managers and scientists but most importantly have fun spending time outside!

Fotofauna – A Community Science Wildlife Monitoring Program with Sky Island Alliance

Fotofauna – A Community Science Wildlife Monitoring Program with Sky Island Alliance

Event Description

Join Sky Island Alliance, in collaboration with CAZCA and McDowell Sonoran Conservancy to learn about and add to the growing network of wildlife cameras and help observe presence, absence, and seasonal movements of species in the Sky Islands of the U.S. and Mexico. This data will help Sky Island Alliance and our partners study when and where wildlife is present so we can better protect their habitats and pathways.

There will be a presentation and Q & A from 9-10:30, and then an optional workshop from 10:30-11:30. Please register for one or both.
