Skylar Begay is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, and is also Mandan and Hidatsa. His mother’s clan is Tangle People, his father is Mandan and Hidatsa, his maternal grandfather’s clan is Towering House, and his paternal grandfather is Mandan and Hidatsa. He works at the non-profit Archaeology Southwest on homelands of the Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui aka Tucson, Arizona as Director of Tribal Collaboration in Outreach and Advocacy. His work focuses on the protection of cultural sites, landscape scale protections, and working with his fellow Indigenous Peoples and Tribal Nations.
