Dr. Helen Rowe is the Director of the Parsons Field Institute at the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and Associate Research Professor at Northern Arizona University. She has worked in natural areas management and research for over 20 years and currently engages on projects that span restoration ecology, invasive species, long term monitoring, and wildlife connectivity.

Dr. Kimberlie McCue is Senior Director-Desert Horticulture and Conservation at Desert Botanical Garden. Kim played a leadership role in developing the concept for and launching the Central Arizona Conservation Alliance in 2012. She has worked in conservation for over 20 years, building partnerships to support plant and habitat sustainability, and training the next generation of conservation scientists and stewards.

R.J. Cardin is the Director for Maricopa County’s Parks and Recreation Department, one of the largest regional parks systems in the United States. With more than 30-years of diverse parks and recreation experience he strongly believes that through responsible stewardship it’s possible to inspire an appreciation for the Sonoran desert’s beauty, improve health, grow local economies and create life-long advocates for public lands.

Dan Gruber was a principal and senior partner at Deloitte Consulting where he focused on corporate turnarounds, change management, and strategic planning. Since retiring he has volunteered at Arizona conservation organizations. He was a founder of McDowell Sonoran Conservancy’s Field Institute and associated citizen science program. He gives talks, leads hikes about the natural history of deserts and has authored papers about local desert geology.
