Using 50 wildlife cameras Jesse Lewis, Assistant Professor at ASU’s College of Integrative Sciences and Arts and other collaborators studied how urbanization changed the lives of wildlife like coyotes, gray foxes, javelina, and even domestic cats. All these species can respond different to urbanization. Some are exploiters, others avoiders, of these broad landscape changes.
Few studies have evaluated the effects of urbanization on wildlife in the southwestern US, especially in the highly arid Phoenix Valley, which is home to the fifth largest city in the US. Join us as we explore how local wildlife has responded to our growing cities season by season, and how we could potentially map their preferred habitats and activities!
