Desert Defenders Training

Love & Support | Sustain & Restore

Event Description

Invasive species are one of the biggest threats to our park’s ecosystem health. They outcompete native plants, decrease biodiversity and increase wildfire occurrences and magnitude. Join the Desert Defenders program to help us find and remove these plants.

This training will include an overview of the mobile app used by volunteers to map the invasive plants and a field training. Most of the time will be spent outdoors identifying plants.

Registration required. Please check-in at the park’s Nature Center. Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Dept. adheres to state COVID-19 protocols including wearing a masks, social distancing and other safety protocols.
